bio:

Corey Pane is a self-taught artist born and raised in Wethersfield, Connecticut. He always loved art as a kid, then stopped after middle school, to really focus on music and other things, but came back to art later in high school. He got a job as an airbrush artist at Exclusive Linez in East Hartford, CT, after impressing the owner with his portfolio. He was fortunate enough to attend the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts in his senior year, which really gave him the focus he needed and helped guide him in the right direction with his art, and allowed him to meet great people such as John and Francene Gintoff, who have really helped him throughout his career. It also there where he was introduced to the work of Jean-Micheal Basquiat, his biggest influence. After, he attended the New Hampshire Institute of Art briefly for one year studying illustration and then transferred to the Hartford Art school, studying painting, which he continues to attend right now.

Pane is always interested in documenting different eras in history. He sees it as documenting like the artists of Ancient Egypt once did. Corey takes this aspect and puts it towards today's world. Focusing on people and cultures of modern times, but also the past.

"I love to paint portraits, and bring them all to life in a different way, that is specific to the person and their endless expressions and emotions," he explains.

Corey likes to spread himself out and not get trapped in one spot, being labeled as a certain type of artist. Corey views his work as being more abstract and expressive in its technique, even though it may not always look that way. His main focus is not to achieve photo realism, but to show expression and to create and story and evoke a certain emotion or feeling. Corey attacks his paintings and goes at them with a very quick approach, these paintings come together very spontaneously and automatic. Corey likes to just let the painting work and create itself while he helps guide it in certain directions.

He is always interested in meeting new people and making connections. He'd like for his art to be recognized worldwide, and his ultimate goal would be to travel to every country around the world. Corey, enjoys trying his hand at many different types of art while using distinct mediums. His first love and natural gift is to express himself through painting. He's inspired by all different types of people, cultures and what they're built upon; music, fashion, history, politics, etc...

Music plays a big part in Corey's life, he is constantly playing music in his head and he has been fortunate enough to be able to create art for musicians such as State Radio, ReadNex Poetry Squad, Saba Saba and the Bataka Squad, Self Suffice (the RapOet), and Wanlov The Kubolor. He has also done art for many organizations and foundations to help raise money and support a cause he believes in fighting for, such as the Bavabuka Girls foundation. He would like to continue this type of work along with commissions and whatever other interesting opportunities he may come across.

Corey is constantly trying to learn and absorb as much information and knowledge as he can, whether it be though books, music, sports, film, or whatever else he comes across and apply that to his art. He is constantly coming up with ideas for new series and listening to inspiring or interesting stories, he would like to paint or create as some form of art.
